Trek Bikes - From the little to the large

Rutland Cycling has now completed a full summer season with one of the largest bike brands in the world. Trek have been responsible for some of the most iconic bikes over the last few years with their Fuel Ex and Madone range. The Fuel Ex 8 in particular, winning bike of the year in 2010.

But their road range was what had initially got our interest. The Trek Madone was the bike Lance Armstrong used and helped to create during his reign of the tour de France, and this was what enticed me along with many others into buying one. I purchased a Trek Madone 4.7 with Ultegra groupset in 2008. This had a full carbon frame and fork, something I was keen to try after riding an alloy road bike for a number of years. The difference was well worth the money. The ride was immediately more comfortable/compliant.

Not only was the ride more efficient but a 2 minute improvement on my 8 mile commute just put an even bigger smile on my face. This was later topped on our demo weekend when I borrowed the top of the range Trek Madone 6.9SSL H2. This was equipped with their best level carbon frame, full Shimano Di2 and a pair of carbon Hed wheels. With the higher level carbon frame and the carbon wheels, the acceleration, due to the weight and stiffness was superb. It is true, you can buy yourself faster. The Madone range starts at a very reasonable £1600 (with carbon frame) and tops out at around the £7000 mark with their top of the range Project One dream bike. They offer a competitive yet compliant ride allowing you to ride hard and get results or just sit in comfort on the Sunday morning club run.

Most of the models in the Trek range come with Shimano groupsets, although Sram and Campagnolo do appear on a few models. A lifetime warranty on their frames paired with an amazing 5 year warranty on all Bontrager parts is another great reason to buy a Trek. Great products with great back up.

Trek also offers the same quality on their Kids bikes. These are a nice addition to our kids range as so many brands lower the quality of kids products. All 20" and 24" kids bikes come with an adjustable stem and a chainset which allows you to get extra growth out of these little bikes. Boys and girls models are available as you would expect.

If they aren't quite ready for their own bikes, Trek also have a range of 20" wheel and 24" wheel childrens trailer bikes. Great for children that can’t quite manage those longer bike rides. These fold too making them easier to put in the car or on the car rack.  So if you are looking to kit out the family with bikes or if you are a serious competitor Trek will have something to suit you. Now at Grafham Cycling and Rutland Cycling we also have our Trek Demo fleet in place for the 2011 season. This consists of Mountain and Road bikes including both Ladies and Gents models. These are available to rent all year round at very competitive prices. Check out our Website to see our full range of Demo bikes available.
